A Life Unplanned, A Purpose Unfolding

Three years ago, I made the decision to serve as a full-time missionary with GYC. I remember saying it would only be for one year, never imagining that within that year, God would completely rewrite my plans.

During our most recent GYC training in Colombia 🇨🇴, I found myself reflecting on who I was three years ago—a young woman carrying many fears and unhealed wounds, yet with a heart that genuinely wanted to serve the Lord. I believe God saw that sincere desire and began His work as the Potter in my life.

The journey has not been easy. I have walked through deeply challenging seasons where I truly felt God was breaking me. There were moments of pain, confusion, and surrender. But in the middle of that process, I came to understand what the apostle Paul meant in 2 Corinthians 12:9—that God’s power is made perfect in weakness, and that His grace is sufficient to keep moving forward.

Today I can say that every trial was necessary. After each difficult season, I have witnessed firsthand the miracles of God in the mission field. Yet one of the most personal miracles for me has been the way God has healed my own heart through serving others. Sometimes we think ministry is only about helping those in need, but in reality, service is also one of the primary ways God restores our identity and frees us from our own self-centeredness.

At this most recent training, I had the opportunity to share part of my testimony with young people from different countries. It was incredibly moving to see how God touched their lives. I watched as many of them, with tears in their eyes, surrendered their will to God, asking Him to fulfill His purpose in their lives. I have no doubt that He will raise them up as instruments of salvation.

Our ministry report from GYC Peru also deeply moved Andrew Park, president of Generation of Youth for Christ (GYC International). After hearing our presentation, he approached us and said, “Thank you for your work and for sharing the evidence that God is leading this ministry.” We then had the privilege of praying together, asking God to continue guiding the missionary work in Peru.

One quote that stayed with me from this training comes from The Ministry of Healing:

“Christ in His earthly life made no plans for Himself. He accepted God’s plans for Him, and day by day the Father unfolded them. So should we depend upon God, that our lives may be the simple outworking of His will. As we commit our ways to Him, He will direct our steps.”

Today I understand that becoming a missionary was never truly my plan—it was a daily surrender.

Thank you to AMOR Projects USA, GYC Peru, and to you, dear donor, for sustaining missionaries like me and allowing us to continue fulfilling God’s purposes.
