End-of-year celebrations are always associated with buying new things or surprise gifts that bring joy to many children and families. Many children in Peru dream of receiving toys during the Christmas season, hoping to enjoy a family night together. However, the lack of economic resources in the poorest households means they cannot afford this privilege.
We visited a very poor village where children still play hide-and-seek, and their greatest joy is gathering together and chatting. When we asked them what they would like to receive this Christmas, they told us they wanted clothes and sandals to start the new year with something new.
Their request was unusual. We expected them to ask for toys. One of them explained that toys are only enjoyed for a few days, but clothes would serve them for a long time and protect them from the approaching winter. Our hearts were deeply touched knowing that each household has more than five children, and parents cannot afford to buy them clothes and shoes.
God provided the financial means to buy clothes and sandals for more than 50 children in this community. Thanks to the goodwill of every donor, we were able to bring joy in the new year to these humble children. The eyes of each child radiated happiness as they received this simple yet meaningful gift. Their faces lit up with genuine smiles. Life may not be fair to them, but they find joy in the warmth that God provides during their moments of difficulty.
We also shared a healthy breakfast, and by God’s grace, it was enough for everyone, including the wonderful team of volunteers who joined us. We express our deep and sincere gratitude to every donor from AMOR Projects USA and pray that God blesses them today and always.
